OPERATION NEVADA EAGLE


The 101st Airborne Division (AM) continued to clear and search the southern and western portions of their area of operations to eliminate elements of the 4th, 5th and 6th NVA Regiments. Effective employment of airmobile US forces in coordination with GVN Forces enabled the 101st Airborne Division (AM) to achieve excellent results in the Accelerated Pacification Campaign in the coastal area of their AO.

Two brigades of the 101st ABN DIV with the 3d BDE, 82d ABN DIV began a clear-and-search operation. The concept of NEVADA EAGLE, an airmobile operation, was to conduct clear-and-search activities to seek and destroy or capture enemy personnel, material and installations within the area of operation, with emphasis on rice denial, interdiction of enemy movement in the Piedmont Zone and offensive sweeps along Route 547 and Song Bo.
